Keyword Blocks - build and share reusable keyword searches

Can’t see the option to create a new Keyword Block?

Please reach out to your Team Admin as they can help you get set up with the right access.

We're excited to introduce Keyword Blocks, a powerful new feature that enables teams to create, share, and manage reusable keyword searches.

What are the benefits?

Save time with reusable queries

Create reusable Keyword Blocks for common searches, such as brand definitions, product lists, or topic monitoring. Instead of rebuilding complex search strings, add a relevant Keyword Block to your search with a single click.

Ensure team-wide consistency

Keyword Blocks ensure all team members use the same, reliable search criteria. This reduces errors and makes reporting and analysis more consistent.

Simplify crisis management

In high-pressure scenarios, pre-defined Keyword Blocks let your team quickly monitor live issues with trusted, standardized queries.

How does it work?

Keyword Blocks are Boolean keyword strings that can be easily added to any search using the 'Add Keyword Block' button within the search field. Once created, a Keyword Block is accessible to everyone on your team and displayed in a list that can be filtered for easier navigation.

Keyword Blocks can be used as a single search, as a starting point for a new search, or combined together. For example, you may have a finely-tuned search for your company, which your team can add with one click before making additional refinements.

Roles and permissions

Keyword Blocks functionality is role-based, ensuring that teams maintain control and consistency. Below is a breakdown of permissions:

Admins: Have Editor access by default and can assign it to others in the Team section.
Editors: Can create, edit, and archive Keyword Blocks.
Viewers: Can view and use existing Keyword Blocks in searches.

The Editor role is shared across both Keyword Blocks and Source Lists. Admins are identified by a label under their name in the Team section.

Managing and archiving

Keyword Blocks are managed through the Keyword Blocks page, found in the More tab on the left sidebar. Updates made to a Block are automatically reflected in all searches where it is used. If a Block is archived, it will no longer appear as an option for new searches, but it will remain active in existing searches.

Questions and answers

Q: Can I combine multiple Keyword Blocks in a single search?

Yes. You can combine multiple Blocks with Boolean operators to create complex queries.

Q: What happens to a search when a Keyword Block is updated?

When a Block is updated, all searches containing that Block will automatically reflect the changes the next time they are loaded. This ensures searches stay consistent and up to date.

Q: Can Keyword Blocks be used in alerts and reports?

Yes. Keyword Blocks are fully supported in alerts, digests, and reports. Any updates to a Block will also update the alerts or reports using it.

Q: Can I create or edit a Keyword Block from a dashboard?

No. Blocks can only be created and managed through the Keyword Blocks page. This ensures there is a central location for managing all Blocks.
