Types of export
The different widgets export their data in slightly different ways. Timeline exports to Excel, powerpoint, and JSON, while feed widgets exports to Excel or JSON.
We’ll explore both here.
Timeline
Powerpoint
You can export a single Timeline or Combined Timelines from the All Searches view with all the data directly into a Powerpoint, to be able to directly share with your team and/or clients. To do this, click the three dots in the top right corner of the Timeline widget. Then click the ‘Export as Powerpoint option.
When exporting a single Timeline, your PowerPoint file will have both the public interest and media interest charts on separate slides.
When exporting Combined Timelines, your PowerPoint file will have the chart that is displayed in your widget. To get both media and public interest charts into the same PowerPoint file, you will need to generate two separate exports and combine them using copy and paste within PowerPoint.
The notes that you have made on the timeline will export alongside the graphs.
Excel
You can also get the public and media interest in their raw data forms, by exporting them as Excel spreadsheets.
To do this, click the three dots in the top right corner of the Timeline widget. Then click the ‘Export as Excel’ option.
You also have the choice to include Highlights in your export.
To include Highlights in your export, follow the same steps as above, and after selecting ‘Export as Excel’, you will see a checkbox where you can choose to include Highlights.
This will download the timeline data directly onto your computer in an Excel format.
When exporting Combined Timelines, your Excel file will have the data that is displayed in your widget. To get both sets of media and public interest data into the same Excel file, you will need to generate two separate exports and combine them using copy and paste within Excel.
Image
Sometimes all you need is an image to tell a story, and you can export a single Timeline as an image for the public interest chart, for the media interest chart, or both. You can export Combined Timelines from the All Searches view as an image for the public interest chart, or for the media interest chart.
To do this, click the three dots in the top right corner of the Timeline widget. Then click the ‘Export as image’ option. You can then choose whether you want either of the graphs in isolation or as a combined image.
This will export the image with a white background for easy insertion into documents and presentations.

Exporting data from widgets
The data from widgets can also be exported as raw data, either as an Excel format or a JSON format. To do this, click the dots in the top-right corner of the widget and select ‘Export as Excel’ or ‘Export as JSON’.
This will download the data directly to your computer in whichever file you select.
