What is the Timeline
Timeline shows you the level of Media and Public Interest in your search.
- Media Interest: The number of articles published per hour/day that match your search criteria.
- Public Interest: The number of social media interactions on articles per hour/day that match your search criteria.
For the Public Interest chart, we’re tracking interactions on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. You can find more information on what we track and how here.
Exploring the Data
You can interact with points on the charts to identify what happened in the selected period.
Clicking on a point in the Media Interest chart will bring up the articles that were published in the selected period. You can use this to identify the origin of an issue and to see how the narrative has changed over time.
Clicking on a point in the Public Interest chart will bring up the articles that earned the most engagement in the selected period. You can use this to identify the articles attracting the most interest at any given point in time.
From the Public Interest chart, you can choose to Plot Articles to see how interest in a specific article compares to the overall search.
You can add notes to highlight points-of-interest in the Timeline or to keep track of important events.
To add a note, hover on the chart and select the plus icon on the X-axis.
- You can add one note per point. And an unlimited number per search.
- Choose whether the note should show on one chart or both.
Notes appear as markers on the Timeline. You can hover on a note to view the details.
When you add a Note, it’s linked to the Saved Search.
If you add that search to another Dashboard, the notes will be visible.
